Mom's Meals delivers 1,000 shelf-stable meals to be distributed at our 13 Community Resource Centers, jointly operated by L.A. Care and Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan, to support households affected by the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.

In early 2025, a Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan member visited the Metro Los Angeles Community Resource Center, jointly operated by L.A. Care Health Plan and Blue Shield Promise, looking for housing assistance for a family member who had been displaced by the wildfires in Los Angeles.

The member had previously visited the center, only to attend free fitness classes and was surprised to learn of the center’s assistance and fire relief information. During their visit, a community health advocate clearly outlined the housing resources available and communicated with the member in their native Korean language.

This member is one of many Los Angeles residents who came through the doors of our centers in January for wildfire relief information, resource referrals and supplies, such as N95 masks, travel first-aid kits and basic hygiene items. Dedicated center staff also helped members access care and medications during this stressful time.

Today, the recovery effort continues at all of our 13 centers, including food assistance thanks to a donation of more than 1,000 shelf-stable meals from Mom’s Meals. Mom’s Meals’ mission is to improve lives through better nutrition at home achieved through long-term care, condition management, post-discharge and food insecurity programs. Since 2021, Moms Meals has donated more than 58,000 shelf-stable meals to nonprofit organizations throughout the country.

“It is so crucial for us to have shelf-stable meals available at our Community Resource Centers throughout Los Angeles County to distribute to food-insecure populations including older adults and individuals experiencing homelessness,” said Kristen Cerf, president and CEO of Blue Shield Promise. “We’re encouraged that so many individuals and families have come through our centers to access care, find resources and gather essential supplies. And now — thanks to this generous donation from Mom’s Meals — we can offer visitors nutritious meals when they need it the most.”
